Who We Are

100% is bringing people together – people just like you – who believe we need an equitable clean energy future.  We believe that “to change everything, we need everyone”.

That’s why we create cross-sector, statewide, multi-racial campaigns to build an equitable clean energy future that works for everyone.

Based in Minnesota, grounded in people & organizational partners, we’re committed to improving lives and changing material conditions while reducing greenhouse gas emissions in every sector of our economy.

Our Story

We launched in 2019 with our first mission: to pass a 100% clean electricity law in Minnesota.  We did that in 2023, but along the way we grew, developing new relationships and expanding our work beyond electricity.

To create an equitable clean energy future, we’ll need to improve the ways we live, work, and connect.  We’ll need better homes, cleaner cars, and healthier soil.  We’ll get there with family-supporting jobs, vibrant communities, and a multiracial democracy.

Clean electricity is our foundation.  We’re building up from there.

We’re campaigners.  To win, we need organizers, communicators, advocates, experts, artists, fundraisers, and administrators.  Campaign building is the art of pulling all this work together and directing it toward a purpose.  Sometimes we play these roles ourselves.  More often we’re part of a coalition.  Sometimes we lead; often we follow.  We always try to work in relationship, fill gaps, and build toward the critical mass we need to win.

We’re experimentalists.  We love to learn.  And we learn by doing.  Since 2019, we’ve tried out new kinds of events, new ways of reaching audiences, and new approaches to advocacy.  We believe it’s necessary, but we know it’s a pleasure.  Sometimes our experiments work; sometimes we learn.  We’re always trying to figure out what else is possible.

We’re committed to material improvements.  Bottom line: none of this matters, if it doesn’t matter to everyday people.  An equitable clean energy future must mean tangibly better lives.  We’re all for greenhouse gas emissions reduction.  But without equitable outcomes, without better homes, more transportation options, and affordable, clean technology, GHG reduction alone is a big (very big) missed opportunity.  Right now, we have a once-in-a-century chance to make our economy more clean and more fair.  We intend to do that. We’re rolling up our sleeves, getting wonky, going deep, and sweating the details with our friends.
